Workplace violence is a pervasive problem that demands action to prioritize the physical and psychological safety of our nurses. There is much to be done, and the time to begin is now.

Through the Workplace Violence Program, nurse leaders and teams have the opportunity to develop skills to advance practical strategies to address workplace violence, highlighting actionable steps and best practices for all nurses in promoting a safe clinical work environment.

PROGRAM FACULTY

Britt DiNatale, RN, BSN

Britt DiNatale is an Emergency Department nurse with an expansive background in patient education, nursing advocacy, and health policy. She is the author of Workplace Violence: What Can Nurses Do, published in the American Nurse Journal, and currently serves as Client Success Advisor and Director of the Nursing Experience Project at Practicing Excellence, where she supports client leaders and teams to create impact through growing skills and advancing outcomes.

FranCIs P. Hogan, MSN, RN, RN-BC

Francis P. Hogan is a nurse and Assistant Vice President of Patient Care Services at Virtua Health. He has a love for helping people that started when he was a child and eventually led him to social work and nursing.

Mel Cortez, RN, BSN

Mel Cortez has been a critical care nurse for over 10 years, having worked in various hospital units and cities across the U.S. A violent incident at a rural hospital in North Carolina led her to the founding of her company, Cortex – GOLD, where she is helping organizations to establish a standard for healthcare security.
