Salem Memorial District Hospital (SMDH) has selected Practicing Excellence as its partner in advancing the leadership development of their non-clinical leaders.
Located in Salem, Missouri, SMDH is loyal to their community and mission — to provide quality, patient centered healthcare, with compassion and professional excellence, to every patient, every encounter, every time.
Since opening their doors in 1970, SMDH has undergone significant growth and change over the years, including the development of a long term care facility, outpatient treatment and ambulatory surgery clinic, and expansions of the laboratory, emergency, and radiology departments. This partnership is just the latest investment from Salem in their organization and its people, supporting their goal of being an integral part of the communities they serve.
“We explored several leadership development opportunities and intentionally chose Practicing Excellence because of its strong focus on human connection and leading change. We recognize that systems, processes, and outcomes cannot truly improve without first investing in the people who lead and deliver the work. Practicing Excellence prioritizes relationship-centered leadership, emotional intelligence, and trust-building – foundational elements that enable meaningful change. By strengthening human connection first, we believe our organization will be better positioned to lead change effectively, improve collaboration, and achieve sustainable improvements in quality, safety, and patient outcomes.
We believe Practicing Excellence will have a meaningful impact on both our culture and our outcomes. By equipping leaders with skills to foster human connection, communicate effectively, and guide change, the program will strengthen engagement across all levels of the organization. This, in turn, will support safer, higher-quality patient care, improve teamwork and collaboration, and enhance staff satisfaction and retention. Ultimately, we expect this partnership to create a more resilient, empowered workforce capable of driving sustainable improvements in both patient and organizational outcomes.”
