At Practicing Excellence, we believe that great care starts with one essential truth: every patient is a unique human being with their own story, needs, and values. When we recognize and respond to that individuality at every touchpoint, we create more trust, stronger relationships, and better health outcomes.
That’s why we’re proud to launch the Ambulatory: Honoring Patient Uniqueness Certification Program, our newest comprehensive new curriculum available to be implemented in unison across three audiences—clinicians, clinical staff, and non-clinical staff. This program equips care team members with practical tools to deliver personalized, respectful, and compassionate care, while advancing their own professional growth.
Whether you’re diagnosing a condition, managing transitions, answering a phone call, or supporting a patient at check-in, you play a vital role in shaping the patient experience. This program ensures that every member of the care team is aligned and empowered to treat patients not as cases, but as people.
The curriculum for each role-based track follows the same skill topics, but the content is curated to fit the roles and responsibilities of clinicians, clinical staff, or non clinical-staff. The six skill topics covered include:
- Caring For Every Person
- Techniques to identify, value, and respond to a patient’s personhood
- Listening To Ensure Patients Are Heard
- Identify and apply techniques to become a more engaged listener
- Compassionate Coordination
- Implement simple actions to anticipate patient needs and offer connective care
- Being There For The Individual
- Approaches to prioritize communication and optimize accessibility to create a supportive environment for patients
- Creating An Equitable Experience
- Evaluate and enhance accommodations for diverse patient needs
- Connecting With Hope
- Practice communicating to signal hopefulness to patients
